Cold Sore Policy

Cold sores are part of the herpes virus and are very infectious. The virus resides in your saliva and can easily be passed to other parts of your face and eyes, which may result in blindness to you and members of the dental staff.

Those patients with active and/or healing cold sores, ie scabbed over, should not attend for their routine dental appointment. You should call the practice and reschedule your appointment for at least two weeks after your cold sore has healed.

Any patient with a severe dental emergency, ie swelling and infection, can be seen by phoning the practice for a triage appointment.

We appreciate your understanding in following this policy.
